Don't forget your knives

My colleague Justin who arrived from England 2 weeks ago (a short little, bubbly man) went to collect his Medicare card from Westfield. Before he went, the other brits that I work with tried to take the mickey out of him by telling him to hold on to his wallet and to avoid eye contact with strangers.

About 15 minutes later we receive a call from Justin, there has been a bomb threat called in to Parramatta Westfield, and he has been locked in the back office of Medicare for protection? hehhe...poor bloke.

The arguement was that if the glass shattered then they wouldn't get hurt.

That depends on what kind of glass you were talking about.

With the average soda-lime glass, it does not have high impact resistance, and with its low fracture toughness, it will not absorb much energy.

Thermal toughened glass, better.
Chemical toughened glass, better still.

Laminated glass, probably one of the best glass type for impact resistance.
