The Party Continues...

Friday night – Drinks @ Cruise Bar

Saturday Night – Dinner @ Café Pacifico Darlinghurst

Tucked away in a little street, the run down building with its big red wall and long staircase is a little misleading for what lies upstairs. Inside is Sydney’s own little Mexico! The atmosphere of this place is electric and gets better as the night progresses. The mocktails, cocktails and Sangria was fabulous, and if ever you wanted to do tequila tasting then this is the place to be! They boast over 50 different types of tequila.

The food was pretty good and it was cool to see little Mexican people running around the kitchen (feels a little more authentic that way =P) and sure beats Old El Paso. Our table decided on the banquet menu to make things nice and easy for everyone, by the end of the night my jeans were so tight I couldn’t move.

I haven't posted a pic of Betty and Lisa's Presents at the risk of spoiling another suprise. But msn me if you want to see and I'll post again later! The present was a massive hit!

Not moving is just not an option. After dinner the Salsa style dancing begins and just before 12:00 streamers are thrown and we’re each given party poppers to party the night away.

The love Rat. Just when you think you've seen the last of cheesy pick up lines, watch out! because here comes the guy below! He must have tried to pick up every single girl at the restaurant. Starting with my group.

Here he is in the background having a crack at Dee, when that failed he moved on to Kat, then Lisa, then Betty, then Nat etc.

He was still there when we sang happy birthday and had cake...who is this guy?!?!? When we left the party he was last seen sitting with Belinda trying to kiss her hand!...gross.

Happy Birthday Betty & Lisa! Welcome to the prestigious 24 club!

Lesson Learnt!

Sarah gave me the heads up that Bare would have up to 90% off at the Paddington and Chatswood stores today. I was at Chatswood by 9:20am and picked up these 2 bargains! It was the last two extra small and has all these little crystals that you can't see in the pics. I am very pleased indeed! (Thanks Jacky!)

$375 down to $75

100% silk $380 down to $100

I thought the blue one was $160 and I was going to buy it anyway, when they told me it was down to $100 I nearly died.

------------------------------------------

Yesterday was also an ‘Office Building’ afternoon where everyone was mixed up into a new team and we had to battle each other playing trivia. It started off with the heats, and then the top 4 teams with the most wins would progress to heat 2 till the last two teams were left to battle it out. The team I was in came last for EVERY single heat! How bad is that! But my team captain Lee believes there was a conspiracy (that’s our excuse anyway). We weren’t too sure how many hearts an octopus had, or the person who won the junior and senior iron man comp in the same year? But we did get a prize for coming last =P

The Inevitable

The time has finally come and one of my best friends is off to pursue her own adventure. Her partner is from Israel and she is going there to meet up with him and then there is talk of them settling down in Toronto. It’s a bitter sweet day where on the one hand I’m so excited that she is living a dream that I only dare think about. On the other, my best friend isn’t going to be just around the corner anymore and I don’t know how long it will be till I see her again.

Sarah and I met when we were 5; we have been friends for 19 years! 19 years!! That’s older than my sister and over three quarters of my life. She knows everything there is to know about me; the good, the bad, the ugly and she accepts me for me. I took the day off to spend the day with her along with 3 other girls - it’s been a tough day. Every time I get the chance to reflect, my eyes begin to swell up with tears and we haven’t even reached the airport yet.

It was also a good day where together we cooked breakfast ate lunch and baked cupcakes. Eating and laughing just the way we always are and always will be.

A run down of my weekend.

Friday - Team Lunch
After we cut the cake my team took me for lunch at Wagamama's and presented me with this gift. For those that know me I love my arts, crafts and scrapbooking, it was an extremely fitting and thoughtful gift! (No this wasn’t the present in the green box, it was just a coincidence that they had the same wrapping.)

Friday night – Sarah’s Birthday Cook-up for Betty, Lisa and I

Entrée: pumpkin, eggplant, asparagus, potato tempura

Salad: Rocket, fetta with roasted tomatoes tossed in a balsamic dressing

Main: Salmon Risotto with spinach, dill and a light drizzle of lemon oil

Dessert: Toblerone fondue with strawberries and banana & Crème Brule (sorry was so busy eating I didn't take pics!)

Dinner started at 7:00pm and didn’t finish till after 12, the food was fabulous! Good Job Sarah and a big Thankyou!!

Saturday Night to Sunday Morning - Sarah’s Mum Threw a family BBQ farewell for Sarah, so we tagged along!

The food: Lamb cutlets, sausages, prawns with sweet Chilli, rices dishes, Sarah’s mum’s Malaysian curry, salad, tempura eggplant and much much more!

Dinner started at 8:00pm and ended with a tiramisu cake at about 11:00pm. Seeing that it would be Sarah’s last weekend in Sydney *sniff* *sniff* we decided to head out of town for drinks. So when the clock struck 12:00 I found myself in the car park of Macquarie Bank with a crazy bunch of people singing a self composed “Happy Birthday Emily, we love technology” song to me (this will make a lot more sense if you have seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite).

I don’t know if it’s because we’re getting old? But the city seemed really silent for a Saturday night/Sunday morning. The usual places were empty and the other places had such long lines that we couldn’t be bothered. We settled on Bar 333 where I christened my 24th Birthday with a Pina Colada! (Thanks Sarah) and whatever drink that was in the picture!

Sunday night: Dinner @ Grappa

Now before anyone reading this post gets upset with me for not inviting them to dinner, the girls organised dinner last minute. So to the person that sent me the email this morning rather upset I’m really sorry!! Thanks Mum for the Matthew Williamson top as seen below.

The suprise: remember my post about Regret?

Well the girls had secretly bought me the dress!! Thank you all so much!! You're the best!!

Till next year

Thank you everyone for all the Birthday wishes, smses, msn messages and emails. Despite my attempts to avoid celebrating, it turned out to be a very eventful weekend. I just got home and I’m desperate for sleep so I’ll update tomorrow.
Thanks Again
Love Em.

In case you were wondering what I decided about DJ’s, Matty was very right when he told me to feel and not think. My gut tells me to give this one a miss.

Not Feeling your age

It’s my birthday soon…24...no wait 24! It even sounds old.

No, not excited...it feels like I blinked and a few years disappeared.

Don't forget your knives

My colleague Justin who arrived from England 2 weeks ago (a short little, bubbly man) went to collect his Medicare card from Westfield. Before he went, the other brits that I work with tried to take the mickey out of him by telling him to hold on to his wallet and to avoid eye contact with strangers.

About 15 minutes later we receive a call from Justin, there has been a bomb threat called in to Parramatta Westfield, and he has been locked in the back office of Medicare for protection? hehhe...poor bloke.

*Sigh*

Regret is such a terrible feeling. I had my eye on this Bare dress for ages black, strapless, satin, Audrey Hepburn style - $400! I just could never justify it. Then it went on sale for 50% off, I should have bought it then and there but with car insurance, rego and greenslip I felt so broke. It was also the day before I would find out the result of the interview, if I got the job then I would reward myself with the dress.

No job, no dress.

I still keep thinking about the dress, when I called the store I found out that all the size 8’s has sold out. I feel terrible, it's hard for me to find things I really like.

All Sorts

Met one of the strangest candidates today. She arrived at our offices at 8:30am despite her interview being at 12:30. For the next few hours she locked herself in one of our toilet cubicles, sat on the floor and proceeded to scrunch up toilet paper. When my colleagues knocked on her door to ask if she was ok? she ignored them.

Reception later received a call that someone was locked out in the fire escape and they were banging furiously on the door for help. When some one let her out she pushed past them with out a word and headed straight back to the toilet cubicle.

She then rang our office from the toilet cubicle to reschedule her interview to 2:30pm. Eventually she came out at around 12:00pm walked to reception and demanded to see the consultant with whom she had the interview then and there. When she was told that consultant was not available she had a bit of a tantrum. At the interview she sat in the room with these enormous sunglasses on and refused to take them off.
Candidates can definitely make a boring day a little bit more interesting.

August 05

I’ve been rather quiet lately. There’s been a lot going on but I don’t want to blog about it just yet, as thinking about it stresses me out.
I spent Saturday morning with Betty at the Pyrmont markets, people at work had been raving about them for over a year now and I’ve never woken up early enough to go.

What: Gourmet food market Pyrmont. There’s home made pies, warm apple cider, pumpkin bread, salmon sausages, fresh juices, chocolate dipped strawberries, cakes, fudge and homemade pasta sauces and jams. You get to taste test most things which is a bonus!

When: The 1st Saturday of every month from 7:00am to 11:am, got to get there early or some of the good stuff sells out. The markets are becoming so popular that it's quite hard to find parking even that early in the morning.

Where: The grass area opposite Star City

Out of 10:
It’d be close to a 10.

--------------------

My Birthday is coming up and everyone is asking what I am doing. I don’t think I am doing anything this year, there’s so many different groups of people it’s too hard to try organise. Plus, I can’t think of anywhere that can seat up to 35-40 people who doesn’t require large groups to have a banquet menu, is good value for money and is centralised for people living in different areas, suggestions?
